What Liverpool used to look at the Chelsea game as a title winning fixture or vice versa, the tide has been changing in recent years. In fact, some feel that even the rivalry isn’t what used to be in 4 years. And who can blame them? With this being the second time that they face each other, the game will be different one than the one in Istanbul a month ago.
With Chelsea looking to fight for fourth place, Liverpool’s challenge is a title winning one after the agony of having the most points in their history and still not winning it.

Chelsea started the season with a 4-0 defeat against Manchester United however, improved drastically although losing the super cup in their next game against Sunday’s opponents, Liverpool on penalties.
After a credible draw against Leicester, Chelsea turned on the style against Norwich City with a 3-2 win before suffering a disappointing draw home to Sheffield United – being 2-0 up in half time.
In their last game in the Premier League, Chelsea beat Wolves with a predominant score line of 5-2 which will definitely raise Liverpool’s eyebrows. In their midweek Champions League match they lost 1-0 to Valencia.
Chelsea supporters won’t be having a lot of expectations however, their young team is looking to be hungry to exceed expectations.
The European Champions started the season with a penalty community shield defeat to Manchester City however picked up 5 wins in their opening 5 games. With the 3-1 win against Arsenal being the highlight of their dominance against their competitors.
As mentioned, Liverpool also won the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea in Istanbul earlier this month. After losing to Napoli in the Champions League, they will not be much worried having played much better then last year against the same opponents.
Liverpool will look to win this to keep pushing for their first title in 30 years.
With Virgil Van Dijk being the favourite for many for the Ballon D’ Or he will be looking to put his mistake against Napoli behind him. However, Tammy Abraham will surely giving him something to think with his seven goals in the opening 5 games. Will Tammy Abraham win the challenge against Virgil Van Dijk and take his team to a much needed win?
After missing the penalty that won Liverpool the European Super Cup, Abraham scored 7 goals in the Premier League to give Chelsea fans and hope which they needed early in the season.
Tammy Abraham together with Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori will hope to change the norm at Chelsea regarding youngsters.
Virgil Van Dijk
Liverpool’s number four will be relishing his challenge against Tammy Abraham, and will hope his defensive antics will lead the club to a win to keep challenging for the league.
With this being Liverpool’s biggest Challenge away from home up til this point, Van Dijk will have the responsibility to lead the team from the defence for a victory.

While on the other hand club legend Frank Lampard’s task is different. He will aim that his young kids will push their limits to finish at least in the top four.

Jurgen Klopp changed the perspective of the club, from European qualifiers to league challenging team. Having won the Champions League last year, the expectations will be high for the club this year. Still not favourites to win the league, Chelsea will be a massive hurdle for the club to get there. Can Jurgen Klopp strike a tactical master plan yet again?
With both Chelsea and Liverpool being shaky in the back, Liverpool’s attack may be too much for the Chelsea back line. Our prediction is Chelsea 1-3 Liverpool.
